Death Note: Rewrite

"Completely." Rylan said, taking no notice. He continued to hold out the Death Note tip for her to touch it. Slowly he moved it up so she could see the two words, dropping it once more when he knew she had. He watched her reaction closely.

Lily pursed her lips and graced her fingers along the edge of it, forcing herself not to scream when she saw Rem like she had when Ryuk showed up the first time. She sighed and looked back at Rylan. "If you want to stay for a few minutes I'm almost finished with today. You can come home and see mine." She whispered, watching him now.

Rylan grinned. "I knew it. Alright." He said in a normal voice, "You still don't know where it is?" He closed the suitcase. "Maybe it's checked out... I'll stay here and keep looking just in case..." He said, sounding dejected.

Ryuk snickered. "Mori Number 2."

Lily shrugged and turned away. "I suppose it is," she said, seeming to answer both of them. She walked down the book aisle, glancing back at Rylan. She remembered him from school, but knew he was in none of her classes. To know who he was, and what he was capable of... She looked ahead again. How did he find out what she was Mori though?

Rylan remained in the aisle, boredly going through the books. He looked at Rem. "You saw her Shinigami?" He asked rhetorically and pulled out a book, flipping through the pages.

Rem nodded. "I thought he would be down here." She said with a shrug.

"Tch," was all Rylan said as he continued to browse.

[FEW MINUTES LATER]

Lily was standing outside of the library, waiting for Rylan. She looked around and back at the doors. 'Come on...'

Rylan walked out and over to Lily, watching her for any sign she was about to say anything.

Lily waved him over and started walking brisking, glancing at her watch. Haily's out still, Dad should be working late and not alarmed that I brought a boy home.'

Rylan followed her, holding the suitcase in his hand securely. He sped up to walk beside her, his expression indifferent. "Her name is Rem." Was all he said.

Lily looked up at him and nodded. "I see." She muttered.

[Time skip again?]

Lily walked into her house and didn't wait for Rylan. She went up to her room before he got inside and quickly took her noteebook, tearing out a small portion of it and hiding it again before turning to the door.

Rylan decided to be polite and wait in the entrance room, putting his suitcase down and crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall.

'Well he's not completely stupid. She grinned to herself and walked out, going down the stairs quickly and returning to him. She held out the portion of the notebook. "Here."

Rylan reached his arm out and touched it, and looked up behind her, where Ryuk stood. Ryuk waved at him. "How's it going?"

"Fine." Rylan replied, grinning a bit. "I knew it was you." He said, his gaze on Lily again.

Lily grinned as well and sighed. "How did you know it was me? To be honest I had no idea how I was going to find you, so I'm... grateful for this."

"Shinigami eyes." Rylan said, pointing to his own. "Haven't you heard about the deal? You can see people's names and lifespans hanging above their heads, unless they're a Death Note user. Then you can't see their lifespans." He explained.

Lily looked up at Ryuk and scowled at him. "He conveniently forgot to mention it." She mumbled. 'I wouldn't have taken it anyway.' She looked back at him. "How do they work, besides that?"

"That's all they do. It's really convenient, though. Say, if we met K..." Rylan said for example, grinning a bit. "You'd have her face, I'd have her name. Photographs work as well. There was only one drawback, but I figured that luck was on my side for it." He frowned a bit. "I had to fork out half my lifespan for it."

Ryuk shrugged. "How am I supposed to tell you these things when you don't ask?"

Lily frowned and sighed, looking up at Ryuk again. "How am I supposed to ask for something that I don't know is available?" She asked before looking at Rylan. "It's still a powerful weapon nonetheless."

"Yes, that's how I thought of it." Rylan answered after Ryuk shrugged in response to Lily.

Lily looked at Rylan for a few minutes before she turned. "Why did you seek me out?" She asked, unsure how too. "I'm just curious."

"I thought you'd need my help. It was obvious you didn't have the eyes." Rylan said with a frown. "And I didn't want our concepts and/or ideas to collide and not mesh properly."
